Integrative risk assessment requires thorough understanding of the multi-scale process that govern the emission and the dispersion of the hazardous material as well as the relevant physiological aspects of the toxicity. To deal with this complexity, IIBR researches have developed specialized models for each step. These model are integrated according to the specific requirements of the scenario.
These analyses employ the accepted PRA (Probabilistic Risk Analysis) approach, HAZOP (Hazard Operability Studies) and HAZAN (Hazard Analysis) techniques, linked to various models to assess the potential environmental consequences.
